24 years ago today, Four brothers were killed in combat in Afghanistan

Orlogskaptein (Commander) Trond André Bolle, from Vestby, Follo, Norway, and an MJK (Marinejegerkommandoen) officer, was killed on 27 June 2010, in an IED attack in Afghanistan's Faryab province on the road between Khwaja Gawhar and Almar Bazar. The vehicle was the last vehicle in a column of four vehicles. He had previous engagements in Yugoslav Wars, Kosovo War
and War in Afghanistan (2001-14)

Three other ISAF-soldiers from Norway were also killed in the incident: Løytnant (Lieutenant) Christian Lian of Kristiansand, Fenrik (Ensign) Simen Tokle of Ballangen, Troms and Kvartermester (Quartermaster) Andreas Eldjarn of Tromsø, Troms, all members of Kystjegerkommandoen (Coastal Ranger Command). 

Trond was awarded the first award of the War Cross with Sword for actions performed after the end of World War II. The award was presented on Veterans day (also Victory in Europe Day), 8 May 2011.
